Vishnu Cuddapah, MD, PhD, is seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant I to join his lab at Baylor College of Medicine on a funded project at the intersection of neurodevelopmental disorders, metabolism, and seizures. The Cuddapah Lab is leveraging Drosophila models to investigate how ketogenic diet interventions affect neurological outcomes. The successful candidate will perform multiomics analyses—including proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics—on flies exposed to ketogenic diets and will also integrate single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) protocols to link molecular signatures with functional outcomes. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge omics technologies in a collaborative, translationally focused environment.
• Conducts proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics experiments.
• Develops and implements snRNA-seq workflows for Drosophila brain tissue and Drosophila bodies.
• Collects, compiles, and analyzes multiomics datasets using established and novel computational pipelines (R, Python, or MATLAB).
• Integrates multi-layered datasets (e.g., snRNA-seq with proteomics and metabolomics) to identify molecular pathways underlying diet–seizure interactions.
• Obtains and performs -omics and genetics analyses on samples obtained from children with refractory epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, and/or severe sleep/circadian phenotypes
• Documents experimental design, procedures, and results in digital platforms.
• Collaborates with lab members and external partners to refine workflows and share findings.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
