Media Plus releases ‘Onavasantham’

Doha: ‘Onavasantham’, a special Onam publication brought out by Media Plus as part of this year’s Onam celebrations, was officially released at a function held at Kalyana Panthal Restaurant in Doha.
P. N. Baburajan, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), formally released the publication by presenting the first copy to Dr. Sheela Philip, Managing Director of Doha Beauty Centre.
The gathering highlighted the importance of preserving Kerala’s rich cultural heritage and passing its traditions and values on to younger generations, particularly in the expatriate community. Speakers noted that Onam goes beyond being a traditional festival and represents the enduring values of equality, fraternity, harmony, sharing and togetherness.
Releasing the publication, P. N. Baburajan appreciated Media Plus for its continued involvement in social, cultural and community initiatives in Qatar. He observed that publications such as ‘Onavasantham’ help document the cultural life of the expatriate community while bringing people from different walks of life together.
Receiving the first copy, Dr. Sheela Philip said Onam evokes cherished memories of family, friendship and togetherness. She appreciated initiatives that help expatriates remain connected to their cultural roots and pass the spirit and traditions of Onam on to younger generations.

J. B. K. John, Managing Director of Qatar Tech, congratulated Media Plus on the publication and said Onam is a powerful cultural celebration that connects Malayalis across geographical boundaries. He emphasised the importance of festivals in strengthening friendship, cooperation and community bonds.
Muhammed Noushad Aboo, Managing Director of New Goodwill Cargo, extended his Onam greetings and commended the initiative. He said cultural publications and community programmes play an important role in strengthening social ties and preserving the values of unity and mutual support among expatriates.
Uwais Usman, CEO of The Way Corporate Services, also addressed the gathering. He noted that initiatives of this nature provide valuable opportunities for younger generations to understand and appreciate Kerala’s cultural heritage and the values associated with traditional celebrations.
Media Plus said ‘Onavasantham’ has been conceived as a celebration of the cultural vibrancy of Onam and the spirit of friendship, harmony and sharing that characterises the festival. The publication seeks to connect readers with the traditions and values of Onam while reflecting the social and cultural life of the expatriate community in Qatar.
Speakers at the function observed that Onam continues to serve as a cultural bridge connecting Malayalis around the world, irrespective of where they live. They stressed that the festival’s timeless message of equality, inclusiveness and human solidarity assumes even greater significance in multicultural expatriate societies.
Dr. Amanulla Vadakkangara, CEO of Media Plus, moderated the programme.
The release ceremony turned into a warm community gathering celebrating the true spirit of Onam — love, unity, friendship and sharing.
The online edition was officially launched by Sandeep Kumar, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of India in Qatar, at a function held at the Skills Development Centre, Doha, in the presence of an array of prominent community leaders.
