MEDIAPLUS AND MINDTUNE ECOWAVES OBSERVE WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY WITH A CALL TO PROTECT THE PLANET


Doha: Emphasizing the urgent need to preserve and protect the environment for future generations, Mediaplus and MindTune EcoWaves jointly organized a special World Environment Day programme at Ummusaneem Park, Doha. The event brought together community leaders, environmental advocates, social activists, and members of the public to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living practices.


The programme commenced with an Environment Day procession through the park, highlighting the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution, and the depletion of natural resources. Participants carried placards and messages advocating environmental responsibility and sustainable development
The event was inaugurated by KBF President Shaheen Muhammed Shafi, who stressed the importance of individual and community participation in environmental conservation. He noted that protecting the environment is not merely an option but a responsibility that every citizen must embrace. He called upon people to adopt eco-friendly habits and actively contribute to building a greener and healthier world.


A thought-provoking group discussion followed, during which speakers highlighted various dimensions of environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and responsible citizenship.
Habeeburahman Kizhisseri, Executive Director of FCC, emphasized the need for community-driven environmental initiatives and greater public awareness regarding sustaiable practices.


Muhammed Al Fahad, Managing Director of Spring International, called for stronger partnerships between businesses, community organizations, and individuals to promote environmental sustainability and responsible resource management.

Renowned mountaineer and author Swapna Ibrahim shared her experiences from nature and adventure expeditions, underscoring the importance of preserving natural ecosystems and biodiversity. She called upon individuals to reconnect with nature and become ambassadors for environmental protection.
Mashood Thiruthiyad, Global Secretary General of MindTune EcoWaves, highlighted the organization’s commitment to promoting environmental consciousness across communities and countries. He stressed that environmental protection requires global cooperation and consistent action at the grassroots level.


Muthalib Mattannoor, Qatar Chairman of MindTune EcoWaves, spoke about the role of community organizations in nurturing environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable lifestyles among the public.
Abdul Rauf Kondotty, Member of the Lok Kerala Sabha, emphasized that environmental stewardship is essential for ensuring a better future for coming generations. He urged people to integrate environmentally responsible practices into their daily lives.
Zubair Pandavath, Advisor of GRCC, discussed the significance of environmental education and collective responsibility in addressing contemporary ecological challenges.
Psychologist Aysha Saibool spoke about the positive impact of green spaces and natural environments on mental health and overall well-being. She emphasized the close relationship between environmental health and human health.
Jebi K. John, Managing Director of Qatar Tec, highlighted the growing role of technology and innovation in addressing environmental concerns and supporting sustainable development goals.
Social worker Sidheek Cheruvallur emphasized the importance of grassroots participation in environmental campaigns and encouraged greater community engagement in conservation efforts.
The group discussion was moderated by Dr. Amanulla Vadakkangara, CEO of Mediaplus, who highlighted the importance of transforming environmental awareness into meaningful action. He noted that World Environment Day serves as a reminder that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility and that collective efforts can bring about significant positive change.
The participants unanimously called for renewed commitment to environmental conservation and urged communities to adopt sustainable practices that would contribute to a cleaner, greener, and healthier planet.
The programme concluded with a pledge by participants to support environmental protection initiatives and promote eco-friendly practices within their families, workplaces, and communities.
“Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.” was the central message echoed throughout the event, reinforcing the collective commitment to safeguarding the environment for future generations.
