Purple Saturday gains momentum in Qatar as more companies join the movement

Doha: The Purple Saturday initiative is gaining significant momentum across Qatar, with a growing number of private-sector organisations stepping forward to support the movement and introduce initiatives aimed at making their services more accessible and inclusive for persons with disabilities. According to reports around 100 companies have joined this CSR initiative.
The campaign has received an encouraging response from Qatar’s business community, reflecting a broader recognition that inclusion is a shared social responsibility. Among the companies actively joining the movement are The Way Corporate Services, Qatar Tec and Rocka Power Gym, each extending its support through initiatives designed to promote accessibility, dignity and equal participation.

The growing corporate participation has added further strength to Purple Saturday’s central message — that persons with disabilities should be able to access services, opportunities and public spaces with dignity, convenience and confidence.
The Way Corporate Services has demonstrated its support for Purple Saturday by offering doorstep services for persons with disabilities, taking its services directly to those who may face difficulties accessing them through conventional channels.
The initiative was officially inaugurated by KBF President Shaheen Muhammed Shafi, who described the company’s participation as a meaningful example of corporate social responsibility and a practical contribution towards building a more inclusive society.
Simon D’Silva, entrepreneur and socio-cultural leader who heads the Doha Goan Welfare Association, also expressed his appreciation for the initiative, highlighting the importance of private-sector organisations taking practical steps to make their services accessible to all sections of society.

By introducing doorstep services, The Way Corporate Services has sought to translate the ideals of Purple Saturday into a tangible service that can make a meaningful difference in the everyday lives of persons with disabilities.
Leading manpower and project supplies company Qatar Tec has also joined Purple Saturday, reaffirming its commitment to corporate social responsibility and its belief that businesses have an important role in creating an inclusive society.
Jeby K. John, Managing Director of Qatar Tec, said supporting initiatives that empower persons with disabilities goes beyond conventional corporate responsibility and represents a moral and humanitarian obligation.
“We have been blessed with countless opportunities, and we must remain grateful for those blessings. One of the most meaningful ways of expressing that gratitude is by showing kindness, respect and support towards those who may face greater challenges. Supporting persons with disabilities and creating an inclusive environment is a responsibility that belongs to all of us,” he said.
He stressed that a truly progressive society is one in which every individual is given the opportunity to participate, contribute and succeed with dignity.
Qatar Tec officials Jinoj Mathew Thomas, Project Account Manager; Laiju Varghese, Admin & Procurement Manager; John Mathew, Manager – Human Resources; Joby Kolkunnel John, Manager – Sales & Marketing; Thomas Mathew, Manager – Accounts; and Sreeregha Parayilvalappil, Accounts Supervisor, Jeethu Varghese, Reeja Raju, Basil Joseph and Radhe Taru participated in the programme and reiterated the company’s commitment to humanitarian and social causes.
The company’s participation in Purple Saturday builds on its involvement in charitable and humanitarian initiatives in Qatar and India and reflects its continuing commitment to community welfare.

Adding another dimension to the campaign, Rocka Power Gym joined Purple Saturday by announcing special privileges for persons with disabilities and promoting the message that fitness, health and wellbeing should be accessible to everyone.
Muhammed Noushad Aboo, Managing Director of Rocka Power Gym, said the company’s participation reflects its social commitment and willingness to support initiatives that foster equality and inclusion.
“Health and fitness should be accessible to everyone. Purple Saturday gives organisations an opportunity to demonstrate through action that persons with disabilities are valued members of our community. Supporting such initiatives is part of our social responsibility, and we are proud to be associated with this movement,” he said.
The Rocka Power Gym team marked the occasion with a special procession carrying placards expressing solidarity with Purple Saturday and support for persons with disabilities. The procession highlighted messages of inclusion, equal opportunity, accessibility and community responsibility.

Their collective participation reflected the organisation’s belief that inclusion must become part of everyday institutional culture rather than remain limited to symbolic observances.
The participation of companies representing different sectors — from corporate services and manpower solutions to health and fitness — demonstrates the expanding reach of Purple Saturday in Qatar.
