വിദ്യാര്ഥികാലത്ത് തന്നെ ഊര്ജസ്വലമായ പ്രവര്ത്തനം കൊണ്ട് കെ. എസ്. യു നേതൃത്വത്തിലെത്തിയ അദ്ദേഹം യൂത്ത് കോണ്ഗ്രസിലും സജീവമായിരുന്നു. പഞ്ചായത്തീ രാജ് നടപ്പാക്കിയ ശേഷം 1995 ല് നടന്ന തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പില് തന്റെ ഇരപത്തഞ്ചാമത്തെ വയസ്സില് പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡണ്ടായി എന്നത്് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രവര്ത്തന മികവിന്റേയും നേതൃപാഠവത്തിന്റേയും സാക്ഷ്യപത്രമാണ്. മികച്ച പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റിനുള്ള അംഗീകാരം നേടിയ അദ്ദേഹം ജനകീയാസൂതണം നടപ്പാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള സംസ്ഥാന തല റിസോര്സ് പേര്സണായും സേവനമനുഷ്ടിച്ചു.
നാട്ടില് ട്രാവല് ആന്റ് ടൂറിസം ബിസിനസുമായി മുന്നോട്ടുപോകുന്നതിനിടയിലാണ് 2006 ലെ ദോഹ ഏഷ്യന് ഗെയിംസിന്റെ മുന്നോടിയായി ലഭിച്ച ബിസിനസ് അവസരം ഉപയോഗപ്പെടുത്തി 2005 ല് ഖത്തറിലെത്തുന്നത്. ട്രാവല് രംഗത്തും ട്രേഡിംഗിലുമാണ് ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്നത്.
സജീവമായ പൊതുപ്രവര്ത്തനം വിദ്യാര്ഥി ജീവിതകാലം മുതലേ പതിവാക്കിയതിനാല് ഖത്തറിലെത്തിയ ശേഷവും മണികണ്ഠനിലെ സാമൂഹ്യ പ്രവര്ത്തകന് കേവലമൊരു ബിസിനസുകാരനായി ഒതുങ്ങിനില്ക്കുവാന് കഴിയുമായിരുന്നില്ല. ദോഹയിലെത്തിയ ഉടനെ തന്നെ ഇന്ത്യന് കള് ചറല് സെന്റര് അംഗത്വമെടുത്ത അദ്ദേഹം നാട്ടിക എസ്. എന്. കോളേജ് പൂര്വ വിദ്യാര്ഥി സംഘടനയായ എസ്. എന്. സ്മൃതി, കോണ്ഫഡറേഷന് ഓഫ് അലുംനി അസോസിയേഷന്സ് എന്നിവയുടെ അധ്യക്ഷനായി പൊതുപ്രവര്ത്തന രംഗത്ത് സജീവമായി. തൃശൂര് ജില്ല സൗഹൃദ വേദി കണ്വീനര്, ഇന്കാസ് ജനറല് സെക്രട്ടറി, ഭവന്സ് പബ്ളിക് സ്ക്കൂള് വൈസ് പ്രസിഡണ്ട് എന്നീ നിലകളിലും ക്രിയാത്മക സാമൂഹ്യ സാംസ്കാരിക ഇടപെടലുകളിലൂടെ എ. പി. മണികണ്ഠന് എന്ന നേതാവ് ഖത്തറിലെ ഇന്ത്യന് സമൂഹത്തില് നിറഞ്ഞുനിന്നു.
2016 ല് ഇന്ത്യന് എംബസിയുടെ കീഴിലുള്ള ഇന്ത്യന് കള്ചറല് സെന്റര് വൈസ് പ്രസിഡണ്ടായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട അദ്ദേഹം 2018 ലാണ് ഐ.സി.സി. പ്രസിഡണ്ട് സ്ഥാനമേറ്റെടുക്കുന്നത്. തുടര്ച്ചയായ നാലു വര്ഷം ഐ.സി.സി. യുടെ തലപ്പത്തിരുന്ന് ഇന്ത്യന് സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ സാമൂഹ്യ സാംസ്കാരിക പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങള്ക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നല്കിയ അദ്ദേഹം അടുത്തമാസം അവസാനത്തോടെ അധികാരമൊഴിയുവാന് തയ്യാറെടുക്കുകയാണ്.
ഖത്തറിലെ ഇന്ത്യന് സമൂഹം തങ്ങളെ ഏല്പ്പിച്ച ഉത്തരവാദിത്തം ഭംഗിയായി നിര്വഹിച്ച ചാരിതാര്ഥ്യത്തോടെയാണ് ഐ.സി.സി.യുടെ ഉത്തരവാദപ്പെട്ട സ്ഥാനത്തുനിന്നും പടിയിറങ്ങുന്നതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. ഇന്ത്യന് എംബസിയുടെ പിന്തുണ, മാനേജിംഗ് കമ്മറ്റിയിലെ ടീമിന്റെ കൂട്ടായ പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങള്, ഇന്ത്യന് സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ വിശിഷ്യ ഐ.സി.സി.യോട് അഫിലിയേറ്റ് ചെയ്ത സംഘടനകളുടെ അകമഴിഞ്ഞ സഹകരണം എന്നിവയാണ് അഭിമാനകരമായ പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങള്ക്ക് കരുത്തേകിയതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
ഖത്തറിലെ സാധാരണക്കാരായ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരുടെ കലാ സാംസ്കാരിക പ്രവര്ത്തനങ്ങളുടെ കേന്ദ്രമായി ഐ.സി.സി.യെ മാറ്റുവാന് സഹായകമായ ബുധനാഴ്ച പരിപാടി നിരവധി വ്യക്തികളും കൂട്ടായ്മകളുമാണ് പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്തിയത്. 2019 ല് മാത്രം ഈ രൂപത്തിലുള്ള നാല്പതോളം പരിപാടികളാണ് ഐ.സി.സി.യില് നടന്നത്

ഇന്ത്യന് സ്പോര്ട്സ് സെന്റര്, ഖത്തര് കരാട്ടെ ആന്റ് തൈകുണ്ടോ ഫെഡറേഷന് എന്നിവയുടെ സഹകരണത്തോടെ ഖത്തറിലെ ഇന്ത്യന് കരാട്ടെ ക്ളബ്ബുകള്ക്കായി നടത്തിയ പ്രഥമ ഗ്രാന്റ് കരാട്ടെ ടൂര്ണമെന്റില് 25 ക്ളബ്ബുകളെ പ്രതിനിധീകരിച്ച് നാനൂറോളം വിദ്യാര്ഥികളാണ് പങ്കെടുത്തത്.
ഐ.സി. സി. യെ ഖത്തറിലെ ഇന്ത്യക്കാരുടെ സുപ്രധാനമായ ഒരു ഹാപ്പനിംഗ് പ്ളേസ് ആക്കി മാറ്റുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശ്യത്തോടെ സയന്സ് ക്ളബ്ബ്,. ഫിലിം ക്ളബ്ബ്, എന്വയണ്മെന്റ് ക്ളബ്ബ് തുടങ്ങിയ രൂപീകരിക്കുകയും വൈവിധ്യമാര്ന്ന പരിപാടികള് സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
